Whitney is a registered Associate Clinical Social Worker (Reg. # 99304), who is supervised by Suzanne Mell, LMFT (Lic. #35315). Prior to joining Building Foundations Counseling Center Whitney worked in health education, before going on to work in substance use and eating disorder treatment. Whitney has worked with youth and adults in both individual and group settings. Her work is client centered and collaborative. Whitney places emphasis on the wholeness of a person, while utilizing a variety of theoretical approaches in therapy, which include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Art/Play Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Her experience includes working with individuals affected by trauma, eating disorders, substance abuse, mood disorders, and high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Whitney has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in Health and Wellness Promotion and a Master of Social Work degree from Walla Walla University in Washington. She is also in the process of becoming certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
She has a special interest in working with minors and young adults, but enjoys working with all ages. Whitney is passionate about integrating health and wellness principles in her work, by taking into special consideration the wholeness and unique strengths of the individual.
